Ability Learning Network has been to delivering Skills Training and Employment Placement services for Toronto Social Services for the past fifteen years. Contact your local Toronto Social Services office or call your Case Worker and ask for a Skills Training Directly Leading to Employment referral form for Skills Training or an Employment Placement referral form and then call (416) 350-2331 extension 101 to arrange to meet with the intake coordinator.
ODSP Employment Supports
Ability Learning Network continues to provide Employment Supports for persons with disabilities through the ODSP Employment Supports program. Persons with disabilities, even those not receiving ODSP Income Supports may be eligible to receive direct assistance from Ability Learning Network to find a job and provide supports to keep that job.
Building Trades training program
This sixteen-week training program is primarily hands-on in nature and teaches the skills required to work in the trades in the field of plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry and painting and decorating. The skills learned in this program enable our graduates to enter the workforce in these trades with the confidence and skills required to be successful.
You may be eligible for tuition grants or financial assistance if you are receiving:
Employment Insurance benefits or have received EI benefits in the past three years, or in the past five years if your EI support was part of a parental leave.
Ontario Works benefits and are in need of Skills Training Directly Leading to Employment.
The Opportunities Fund for people with disabilities may provide funding to cover your tuition and related expenses if you are NOT currently eligible for federal, provincial or local employment programs.
People with disabilities who want to work may be able receive ODSP Employment Supports services through the Ability Learning Network. If you are ready to work, we can develop a resume, help you find the job that is right for you, prepare for the interview and provide job retention support to help you keep the job.
You do not have to be receiving financial assistance from the Ontario Disability Support Program to be eligible for Employment Supports.
To be eligible for Employment Supports, you must be 16 years of age or older; be a resident of Ontario; be able to work in Canada; have a disability that is expected to last a year or more, and have a disability that makes it hard for you to find or keep a job.
Students wanting to work part-time while going to school may be eligible for Employment Supports.
When you are ready for a job, we can connect you with employers who are hiring, help you prepare for the interview.
You may be eligible to participate in Employment Placement service if you are receiving Ontario Works benefits, are ready to re-enter the workforce and are in need of assistance in searching for and preparing for employment.
